Shipyard Island
Tersane Island, which is the largest island of Göcek, took this name because it was used as a shipyard during the Ottoman Period. There are two ports on the island, which are separated as winter and summer ports. There are historical ruins in the winter harbor, you can go ashore and examine it closely. The winter harbor, which was used as a shelter by sailors during the Byzantine period, was a place where life continued until the Treaty of Lausanne, while the people living here had to migrate to Greece with the population exchange.
A marina was built in the east of the island, as it is very convenient for the mooring of boats. Access to the island, where swimming breaks are frequently made by blue cruise yachts and daily boat tours, is only by sea. There is a large green area on the shore of Tersane Island, as in other Göcek bays. Olive trees stretching up to the hills are accompanied by palm trees, albeit few in number. You can see plenty of mountain goats on Tersane Island, just like in Sırabük.
Entry to Tersane Island is free. There is a restaurant where you can dine on the island.
